Geographically, the Tennessee Valley Chapter of the AVS - The Science and Technology Society, is comprised of the states of Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina. Any National AVS member residing in this five-state area is a member of the TVC-AVS. The Chapter encourages participation in Chapter-sponsored events by all interested parties, members and nonmembers alike.
The Chapter sponsors dinner meetings during the fall and spring which feature speakers on topics of interest to members. Anyone who would like to suggest a speaker or topic should contact Dave Zehner (865-574-6291).
Chapter information and events are also described in our newsletter, which is published approximately 6 times each year.
A spring symposium and equipment exhibit has been sponsored every spring since 1980. Information about this year's symposium may be found here.
Short courses are offered whenever there is sufficient interest, usually in late fall and/or late spring. Any course sanctioned by the National organization can be taught, and can be tailored to specific local interests. For further information, contact the short course chair Steve Overbury (865-574-5040).
A Newsletter is published about 6 times a year with information about upcoming dinner meetings, symposia, and other events, as well as other items of possible interest to chapter members. Current and (some) back issues are available online. Contact Walt Gardner if you have an item you would like to have appear in an upcoming issue.
